Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? You’re not alone. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we get about reporting crime, staying anonymous, getting rewards, and how Crime Solvers works.
Rewards FAQ

To qualify for a reward, you must first submit your information through Prince George’s County Crime Solvers—before contacting the other authorities directly.
Tips sent directly to the police or other agencies are not eligible for Crime Solvers rewards.
Tips already known to law enforcement do not qualify for a reward either.
If your anonymous tip leads to an arrest and felony charges—or helps capture a felony fugitive—you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
Please note: rewards are not paid immediately. The process can take up to 60 days, depending on the complexity of the case.
The Crime Solvers Board of Directors, made up of volunteers from throughout the area, meets monthly to evaluate arrests and to decide on the size of rewards to be paid “up to $2,500.” Crimes related to homicides, rapes, 1st degree sexual assaults, or crimes authorized by the Chief of Police are eligible for rewards of “up to $25,000.”
The Board’s goal is to ensure rewards are issued responsibly, based on verified results, and in a way that upholds the integrity of the program.
The Crime Solvers Board of Directors decides reward amounts during their monthly meetings. They consider several factors, including:
- The severity of the crime
- The value of the information provided
- Input from the investigating law enforcement agency
The Crime Solvers Board reviews each case monthly and sets reward amounts based on the severity of the crime, the value of the tip, and input from investigators. Every reward is carefully evaluated to reflect the significance of the information you provided.
