Prince George’s County Crime Solvers announces major change in reward program

Prince George’s County Crime Solvers announces the maximum reward amount paid to tipsters will be increased from $1,000 to “up to $2,500.”  The new reward amount is effective today, January 1, 2016.  The reward amount for an unsolved homicide, rape, or other violent crime authorized by the Chief of Police remains “up to $25,000.”

Prince George’s County Crimes Crime Solvers is a nonprofit organization that offers citizens a safe and anonymous way to report information about a crime or criminal activity.  In turn, if the information provided leads law enforcement to an arrest, the tipster could be eligible for a cash reward.

Since the inception of Prince George’s County Crime Solvers, on November 14, 1979, our reward policy has been to pay “up to $1,000” for anonymous tips that result in an arrest by a law enforcement agency.  “During our October 21, 2015 monthly board meeting, the Board of Directors felt it was time to increase our maximum reward payouts.” said Jay Perry, President of Prince George’s County Crime Solvers.

Law enforcement cannot arrest someone solely based on a tip received from Crime Solvers.  “The tips are leads that help detectives facing long drawn out investigations make arrests in a matter of days, instead of weeks.” Perry said.

Prince George’s County Crime Solvers offers three methods for reporting anonymous information to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies in their fight against crime.

Anyone with information about a crime can call the Crime Solvers 24-hour ANONYMOUS tip line at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Secure and ANONYMOUS tips may also be submitted via text message, text “CRIMES (274637)” with “PGPD” at the beginning of the tip or online at www.pgcrimesolvers.com

Prince George’s County Crime Solvers uses state of the art two-way encryption technology to ensure tipsters stay anonymous. We do NOT use caller ID and calls are not recorded.  Phone numbers, IP addresses, etc. are not traceable. The two-way feature of text tips and online tips provide a secure method for the coordinator to ask questions or provide reward information back to the tipster, through the same secure and encrypted interface.

NEW Tip app enables quick and anonymous reporting

TipSubmit app for iPhone and Android

Tipsoft launched TipSubmit, the new mobile app for Android and iPhone.  The new mobile application augments the existing TipSoft tools that allow the public to submit anonymous tips via phone, web and SMS Text-a-tip.

The app offers more powerful options than SMS Text-a-tip, because it has the ability to use GPS to auto-locate the nearest agency or to select an agency manually.  Additionally, users can attach images and video to their tips. TipSubmit adds additional security by securing all information with a user ID and password.

There is no cost to you for use of this app and is free to download at the  or
